Griffiths to brief UN Security Council on developments in Aden
Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary General to Yemen Martin Griffiths on Tuesday said he would brief the UN Security Council on the recent events in the southern port city of Aden.
According to a statement by the UN Envoy’s Office, Griffiths will report to the Security Council on the situation in Yemen later in Tuesday, and would talk about the fighting in Aden between the Southern Transitional Council forces backed by the UAE and Hadi’s forces loyal to Saudi Arabia.
Later in the day, the Security Council is to hold a session to discuss the developments in Yemen, during which it will hear briefings from the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Yemen Martin Griffiths and Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Ursula Mueller on the latest developments in Aden.
Along with the developments in Aden, Griffith is likely to brief the Council on the ongoing efforts to implement the Stockholm agreement signed by the Yemeni parties on December 2018.
