Stopping war on Yemen is only solution to end worsening humanitarian crisis: UN official
The UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen Lise Grande reaffirmed on Monday that stopping the war on Yemen is only solution to end the world’s deteriorating humanitarian crisis.
Grande said in a statement on the occasion of World Humanitarian Day,” We call on all parties to double efforts, work towards peace and give humanitarian workers the safe access to the citizens who need the humanitarian aid.”
Grande explained” the humanitarian organizations work in one of the most difficult environments in the world and reach nearly 12.5 million people receive life-saving aid every month.”
“Yemen is the world’s largest humanitarian crisis. 24.1 million people require some form of humanitarian assistance,” Grande affirmed.
The UN official said” the 2019 Yemen Humanitarian Response Plan (YHRP) requires US$4.2 billion to assist more than 20 million Yemenis, including 10 million people, who rely entirely on humanitarian assistance to meet their basic needs every month.”
