Ministry of Social Affairs Responds to WFP Threats
Deputy Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Yahya Qarwash said that “there are trends to respond to the threats of the World Food Program (WFP) to stop the program in Yemen, through activating hundreds of agricultural cooperative associations for the production of grain.
“In the coming days, the ministry will launch 35 agricultural cooperative associations in cooperation with the general Organization for the development and production of cereals in various provinces,” Yahya Qarwash told Yemen Press Agency on Monday.
He noted that the corruption of the World Food Program (WFP) had worsened in Yemen, through the distribution of rotten food and allocating appalling salaries to its employees amounting to $100,000, which is a flagrant violation of the concept of humanity and the trafficking of the suffering of the Yemeni people.
According to the deputy minister of Social Affairs for Development Sector Yahya Qarwash, planting of wheat and various types of grain is one of these trend, which comes in the framework of coordination with the Grain Production Corporation and the Commission entrusted with the Presidency of the Republic.
“It is also a translation of the serious directives of the Revolution command topped by Sayyed Abdul Malik al-Houthi secure self-sufficiency of food for the Yemeni people,” he added.
The Ministry of Social Affairs will not accept any international or local organization that trades the sufferings of the Yemeni people, but should grant humanitarian assistance to citizens in dignity, without any methods of humiliation against the Yemeni citizens, he said.
He called on all the Yemeni people to strengthen national steadfastness through agriculture that secure food security for the present and future of Yemen, stressing the need to launch mobilization and advocacy campaigns to encourage and support farmers in different regions.
