Palestinian people prepare to commemorate 71st anniversary of Nakba Day
A mass strike on Wednesday hit various cities, camps of the Gaza Strip and West Bank on the 71st anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba at a time when preparations are under way for launching the march of the million-return day on the eastern border of the Gaza Strip.
Students and school students stopped going to schools and universities while government institutions closed their doors as well as shops in response to the calls made by the High Commission for return marches and breaking the siege.
The calls for launching the Million-return festival, which starts at 1 p.m. and until 5 p.m., are continuing in Gaza.
The occupation army intensified its presence at the border as the Palestinian people prepared to commemorate the Nakba Day.
“Nakba,” or catastrophe, commemorates the hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who were expelled in the war that led to the establishment of Israel in 1948.
