Passport authority in Marib worsens patients’ suffering and hinder their traveling

MARIb, March 19 (YPA) – A large number of Yemeni citizens, especially patients and students, continue to complain about their plight as a result of their lack of access to passports from the Passport Department in Ma’rib Governorate.

This suffering comes as a result of the refusal of the coalition-backed Hadi government to deal with the passports issued by Sana’a and the continued closure of Sanaa International Airport.

Citizens, some of whom have not been issued their passports for more than two months despite all their actions and the exorbitant sums spent on them, said that “the promises made by the Ma’rib Passports Authority have not been kept, which hinders our travel for treatment and causes significant complications on the condition of our patients,” local sources in the province told Yemen Press Agency.

They asserted that the Passports Authority has officially announced that the handing over of the passports would take place within two months after the start of the transaction; however this had not been achieved.

“It took more time than the fixed period by the coalition-backed Authority, and they still did not get their passports, while the issuing of the passport from Sana’a would take only four days,” the sources added.

Citizens called on the United Nations to pressure the coalition-backed government to speed up the issuing of their passports along with the adoption of passports issued in Sana’a, as well as to demand the opening of Sana’a International Airport.
