Russia’s UN Security Council Representative: Main Reason for Operations in the Red Sea Is Israeli Brutal Actions in Gaza
Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Security Council, Vasily Nebenzia, stated that the primary reason for the operations in the Red Sea is the unprecedented brutal actions being carried out by “Israel” in Gaza.
“We urge you not to entrench yourselves further into futile military adventures that will only weaken your authority in the region, which has already been undermined by your blind support for ‘Israel’,” Nebenzia said, addressing Western diplomats.
“We witnessed the Houthis’ attack on ‘Tel Aviv’ and the Israeli retaliatory strike on Hodeidah. During the Council’s discussion of this issue yesterday, the selective blindness of our Western colleagues was exposed,” he added.
He noted that the US-British coalition is waging open aggression against Yemen.
He clarified that the bombing of Yemen’s sovereign territory has been ongoing for nearly 6 months, yet it has not affected the military capabilities of the “Houthis” in any way.
“We are convinced that the path to de-escalation in the Red Sea lies, among other things, in ending the violence in Gaza and promoting a settlement in Yemen,” he stated.
Yemenis have openly declared their support for Palestine’s struggle against Zionist occupation since the regime launched a devastating war on Gaza on October 7, following the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm by Palestinian resistance movements.
The Yemeni forces have carried out scores of operations in support of the war-hit Gazans, striking targets throughout the occupied Palestinian territories, in addition to targeting Israeli ships or vessels heading towards ports in the occupied territories.
The Yemeni Armed Forces have declared that they will not cease retaliatory strikes. The maritime attacks have compelled major shipping and oil companies to suspend their voyages to the ports of the Zionist enemy.
