Yemen and Saudi Arabia Reach Agreement on Humanitarian and Economic Issues
The head of the National Delegation, Mohammed Abdulsalam, announced on Tuesday the reaching of an agreement between Yemen and Saudi Arabia to address some humanitarian and economic issues.
Abdulsalam explained in a tweet on his X account that the agreement stipulated the cancellation of the recent decisions and measures against banks on both sides and the cessation of any similar decisions or measures in the future.
The agreement provided for the resumption of Yemeni Airlines flights between Sana’a and Jordan and the increase in the number of its flights to 3 daily, as well as the operation of daily flights to Cairo and India as needed.
The agreement also included the start of meetings to discuss all economic and humanitarian issues based on the roadmap, as well as meetings to address the administrative, technical and financial challenges facing the Yemeni Airlines company.
This development follows a period of escalatory actions by Saudi Arabia, which included targeting Yemen’s economy and obstructing humanitarian agreements, reportedly influenced by the United States. The aim of the economic and humanitarian escalation is to deter Yemen from supporting the Palestinian people who are subjected to a Zionist genocide in the Gaza Strip.
The agreement is seen as a response to warnings from the Leader of the Revolution, Sayyed Abdulmalik al-Houthi, against worsening the economic conditions of Yemeni citizens, who have already been suffering for ten years as a result of the US-Saudi aggression on the country. Sayyed Abdulmalik has imposed an equation of “airport for airport, port for port, and bank for bank”.
