Humanitarian Affairs Council condemns kidnapping of Doctors Without Borders employees in Marib
The Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation condemned the crime of kidnapping two employees working for the international organization Doctors Without Borders, one of whom is German and the other from Myanmar, in the Marib province, which is under the control of the aggression coalition and its mercenaries.
In a statement, a copy of which was obtained , the Council considered the crime of kidnapping a blatant violation of Yemeni law and the culture, customs and traditions of the Yemeni people, as well as a violation of international humanitarian law , humanitarian and religious values, negatively affecting the ability to provide humanitarian aid to those in need, in the areas located under Aggression control.
The Council renewed its denunciation of the actions committed by the aggression mercenaries , which reflect the scene of security chaos in the areas under the control of the mercenaries, resulting from the repercussions of the aggression, the siege, and the shameful silence of the United Nations and its agencies in Yemen.
The Council’s statement indicated that protecting humanitarian workers and facilitating their work is an essential part of Yemeni society’s religious, human, moral and ethical values and identity.
The Humanitarian Affairs Council expressed its condemnation of the silence of the United Nations towards the repeated killings, looting and kidnapping in areas controlled by mercenaries over United Nations agencies and other international organizations and humanitarian workers.
The Council held the aggression coalition, its mercenaries, and the international community accountable for the crime of kidnapping and all crimes against humanitarian workers.
