Humanitarian Affairs Council warns of catastrophic consequences of continuing to reduce aid

The Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation has warned of the catastrophic consequences of the continued reduction of humanitarian assistance for the lives of millions of people affected and the worsening of the world’s worst human suffering, which the Yemeni people have suffered as a result of the nine-year aggression blockade.

The Council confirmed in a statement received by Saba in a copy, the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Yemen is only the result of deliberate action by the aggression States, which use the humanitarian paper as a pressure paper to bring the Yemeni people to their knees, causing the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, as evidenced by the fact that human suffering has been and continues to be the worst, which is increasing day by day and dangerously.

He also warned of the catastrophic consequences of curtailing aid for the lives of millions of people affected and worsening humanitarian and economic conditions in the country, amid high rates of hunger and malnutrition, especially for the most vulnerable groups such as children, women, pregnant women and the elderly.

The Council called on donors and the United Nations to mobilize funding and fulfil their commitments to the Yemeni people, by providing assistance to millions of those affected in Yemen, to contribute to alleviating human suffering, not to impose further restrictions on the Yemeni people.

He held the aggression States fully responsible for using the humanitarian paper as a war paper to starve the Yemeni people, halt funding and pressure the United Nations to reduce aid.

The Council called on the international community to play its part and pressure the States of aggression, by working to lift the blockade and neutralize the humanitarian issue, and not to use it as a pressure paper for political gain.
