Statement by Ministry of Human Rights on World Humanitarian Day
The Ministry of Human Rights stressed that the suffering of the Yemeni people is exacerbated in a way that puts a major question mark on the realities of the United Nations humanitarian work in Yemen.
In a statement on the occasion of World Humanitarian Day, the Ministry of Human Rights received a copy of the Yemeni News Agency (SABA) that the misimplementation of humanitarian projects in Yemen was deliberate by United Nations organizations, as well as the continued lack of transparency, accountability and impartiality in the assistance of international organizations and the disregard of their humanitarian responsibilities.
It noted that restrictions imposed by the Aggression Coalition on many goods and preventing them from entering Yemen’s main port of Hodeidah lifeline continued to endanger the lives of citizens.
The statement by the Ministry of Human Rights denounced the United Nations role in support of the Coalition of Aggression by signing a memorandum of understanding with the mercenary Government on maritime ship insurance.
The continued international silence on ongoing murders in the border areas of Sa’ada province, as well as repeated rocket and artillery attacks and the direct and escalating targeting of civilians in recent weeks, was surprising.
The statement stressed that the continued restriction of flights at Sana ‘a International Airport, the continued siege of the port of Hodeidah, the targeting of civilians, the cutting of salaries of State employees and the looting and confiscation of the country’s wealth are priority issues for humanitarian action can be achieved only by finding appropriate solutions, and by putting an end to the international community’s continued disregard for those priorities and mechanisms.
The Ministry of Human Rights called on the United Nations and various international organizations to engage the mechanisms for implementing their humanitarian programmes in Yemen with the Government of National Salvation to achieve transparency, expressing its appreciation to staff, workers and volunteers in humanitarian work and efforts to serve and protect society despite the conditions of aggression, siege and economic war.
