Iran’s FM Stresses Tehran’s Support for Any Yemeni Decision to End The Suffering
The head of the Negotiating Delegation, Mohamed Abdulsalam, met on Tuesday evening with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian at the Iranian embassy in the Omani capital, Muscat.
During the meeting, Abdulsalam thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran’s moral support for Yemen, and Tehran’s efforts to end the painful suffering of the Yemeni People.
For his part, the Iranian Foreign Minister praised the great and resilience of the patient Yemeni People, stressing Tehran’s support for any Yemeni decision to end the suffering that has been going on for years.
On Tuesday, The Iranian foreign minister, accompanied by a political delegation, arrived in Muscat where he was received at the airport by a number of senior Omani officials.
Earlier, On March 26, Sayyed Abdulmalik thanked all those who stood with our people in their ordeal and oppression, and in the forefront of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which formally and humanely stood in the shadow of Arab and Islamic abandonment and silence.
An ongoing negotiations with the Saudi side, mediated by Oman, in their current situation, remain attempts to achieve peace, which were met positively by Sana’a.
Saudi Arabia, backed by the US and its other regional allies, launched a devastating war on Yemen in March 2015. The eight years of war has killed hundreds of thousands of people and destroyed much of the country’s infrastructure. People of Yemen are facing malnutrition, hunger, and famine, which have increased risks of disease and starvation.
The warring sides agreed on a UN-mediated ceasefire last April but it broke down after six months. Nevertheless, tensions have eased and casualties have decreased as some elements of the truce still remain in place.
