Over two million children in Yemen suffer from chronic malnutrition: UNICEF

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) revealed on Monday the scale of the disaster is being suffered by millions of children in Yemen.

“Nearly 70% of Yemen’s children are among those affected,” the UNICEF said on Twitter, “More than two million children in Yemen suffer from chronic malnutrition.”

The organization indicated that millions of Yemenis find difficult to live without clean water, in addition to 15 million people in urgent need of assistance.

It pointed out that 8 million other children in Yemen have priority in water, sanitation and hygiene services to prevent the spread of diseases and save lives, without talking about the priority in the education service, calling on the international community to expedite the provision of the necessary support and assistance to save lives.

This comes because of the war have been launched by the Saudi-led countries against Yemen on March 26, 2015, with the continuation of the blockade imposed on the Yemeni people, the prevention of entry of food and medicine ships through the port of Hodeida and the closure of Sanaa airport.

The suffering of the Yemeni people has multiplied with suspending salaries for employees since the coalition countries moved the Central Bank from Sanaa to Aden, and the looting of Yemen’s natural wealth of oil and gas and the supply of its revenues to the National Bank in Saudi Arabia, in addition to destruction of various service facilities, including hospitals and schools, by air raids.
