Syrian Foreign Ministry issues statement after Zionist aggression on residential neighborhoods in Damascus
The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the continuation of the Zionist enemy’s terrorist attacks and crimes against the Palestinian and Syrian people constitutes a clear threat to peace and security in the region.
The Syrian Foreign Ministry condemned the Zionist bombardment that targeted civilian objects in the capital, Damascus, last night, which led to the death of five people and 15 wounded.
“At a time when Syria was healing its wounds, burying its martyrs and receiving condolences, sympathy and international humanitarian support in the face of the devastating earthquake, the Zionist enemy entity launched an air aggression at dawn today,” the ministry said in a statement carried by the Syrian News Agency.
It pointed out that the Zionist bombardment targeted residential neighborhoods inhabited by civilians in Damascus, and led in an initial toll to the death of five martyrs, the injury of 15 civilians and the destruction of a number of homes.
“The aggression comes in the context of the systematic Zionist targeting of Syrian civilian targets, including homes, service centers, airports and ports, and terrorizing Syrians who are still suffering from the catastrophic effects of the earthquake,” the statement said.
It added, “It also coincides with the attacks carried out by the terrorist group ISIS, which resulted in the martyrdom of dozens of unarmed civilians in the eastern countryside of Homs province.”
The Syrian Foreign Ministry called for an urgent international action to stop the enemy’s aggressive attacks on Syrian territory.
