Earthquake hits southern Kazakhstan

An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter occurred on the border of Kazakhstan with China, the Seismic Stations LLP “Seismological Experimental and Methodological Expedition” of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.

Tremors were recorded on February 7 at 8:45 am Astana time. The epicenter is located 375 km northeast of Almaty in China.

The quake had an energy class of 11.2 and an MPV magnitude of 4.7. The depth of the tremors is 15 km.
