Sayyed Khamenei: Iranian women must be involved in decision-making
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, said Iranian women should be involved in decision-making.
This comes during his meeting with a group of prominent Iranian women, ahead of the auspicious birth anniversary of Lady Fatimah Zahra (SA) at the Imam Khomeini Hussainiyah of Tehran on Wednesday.
“On the issue of women, our stance towards the hypocritical Western claimants is a position of demand, not defense. There was a time many years ago, when a number of students at a university asked me, ‘What do you have to say for yourself in defense of such and such a case?’ I told them, ‘I don’t have a defense. I have an attack.’ That is how it is with the issue of women,” Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said.
“Those who do not fully observe the hijab should not be accused of irreligion or being counter-revolutionary,” he explained said.
Khamenei added, the insolence of Westerners is evident when they raise the banner of women’s rights while there are issues such as slavery, trafficking in women and the recognition of homosexuality, and they worked to mobilize the Iranian street against the regime of the Islamic Republic, but the facts proved the failure of their subversive plans.
He expressed his great satisfaction with the great and distinctive concepts in the speeches of some of women present at the meeting.
Citing verses from the Holy Quran, he considered equality between men and women in the human perspective within the constants of Islam, as there is no difference between men and women in Islamic and human values.
