The Supreme Economic Committee renewed its call on local and foreign companies to comply with the decision to prevent the looting of sovereign wealth, which was taken to preserve the rights of the Yemeni people, stop the widespread looting of Yemeni wealth and deprive all Yemeni people of benefiting from it.
The committee said in a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) “Based on the directive of His Excellency Field Marshal Mahdi Al-Mashat, Head of the Supreme Political Council, on Rabi’ Awal 5, 1444 AH corresponding to October 1, 2022 AD, which stipulated the prevention of looting of Yemen’s sovereign wealth, any crude oil exports It has become within the scope of the ban, which must be taken very seriously by any parties, entities or countries.”
The committee added, “With regard to the oil tanker (NESSOS KEA), which was prevented today from looting an oil shipment, it was carrying the flag of the Marshall Islands and set off from a South Korean port heading towards the port of Al-Dabba in the city of Shihr in Hadramout province, and it was scheduled to loot what was Nearly 2 million barrels of crude oil, with an estimated value of $186 million.
The statement confirmed that the Supreme Economic Committee continued to take all legal measures through the competent authorities, to address the tanker (NESSOS KEA) and its related companies, for the decision to prevent the looting of sovereign wealth, before the tanker arrived in Yemeni territorial waters.
The statement indicated that the concerned authorities continued to write to the tanker (NESSOS KEA) and sent 3 messages to it, on the 18th, 20th and 21st of this October, but the tanker ignored those messages, and it seemed that it might have understood the decision to exclude the ship (HANA), which transported an oil shipment.
