UAE-backed militias suppress event in Socotra
The UAE-backed militias have suppressed an event organized by a non-governmental organization on the Yemeni island of Socotra.
Activists from Socotra said that gunmen affiliated the UAE occupation forces assaulted civilians celebrating the Yemeni revolution holidays, as well as ripping Yemen’s flags apart.
They also and confiscated audio devices and cameras in the city of Hadibo on Friday, before arresting a number of participants and taking them to prison.
A statement issued by the National Campaign for the Protection of Sovereignty, Restoration of the State and Achieving Peace (YNCPS) called on Al-Alimi’s presidential Council and the coalition-backed government to stop these practices, which have grown day by day in the civilized and peaceful province of Socotra, and hold all assailants accountable and bring them to justice.”
The statement held the UAE authorities responsible for the safety of citizens who are still under arrest in the prisons of the pro-UAE militia.
