Al-Razehi, Gressly inspect damage extent in al-Drurayhimi city
Branch Director of the Supreme Council for Humanitarian Management, Coordination and International Cooperation in Hodeida province, Jaber Al-Razehi and United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen William David Gressly on Friday inspected the damage of the aggression in al-Durayhimi city.
Al-Razehi, Gressly and The Regional Director of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the Middle East and North Africa, Tareq Talahma, listened from the district director, Mohamed Al-Moussai, to explain of the district conditions and its needs for service projects in the sectors of water, health, roads and communications and else..
They also heard from citizens about explosive incidents and stories about mine victims in the district.
Al-Razehi and Gressly visited the monthly food dispensing centre for citizens affected by the aggression and blockade.
During the visit, the Director of the Humanitarian Affairs Council Branch stressed the importance of humanitarian organizations’ role in meeting the needs of Hodeida province in general and al-Durayhimi district in particular, from service and development projects.
He urged organizations and humanitarian partners to create infrastructure for service and development projects that would contribute to alleviating the suffering of the province’s people.
In turn, the Director of the Executive Centre for Mine Handling, Brigadier General Ali Safra, noted the difficulties faced by the Centre as a result of the lack of capabilities and disinfectant supplies.
He explained that demining teams working to extract cluster bombs and explosive remnants of aggression in liberated areas, they are exposed to explosive accidents and the fall and injury of many workers as a result of lack of means.
For his part, United Nations Resident Representative Gressly stressed the importance of lifting the suffering of al-Durayhimi city’s and providing them with basic services.
He said that “We will work with the visiting delegation to raise the basic needs and requirements of emergency health, education, food and relief projects for those concerned in the United Nations to provide it in the near future “.
Gressly renewed the commitment to work on the rapid introduction of explosive screening devices detained by the Coalition States.
Appreciating the role of local authority leadership and the Humanitarian Affairs Council Branch in facilitating humanitarian task teams’ access and their desire to alleviate the suffering of citizens, including displaced persons and people living in areas most affected by the war.
