Water Minister, Taiz Governor open, lay foundation stone for several water projects
The Minister of Water and Environment, Abdulraqeeb Al-Shurmani, and the Governor of Taiz province, Salah Bajash, on Wednesday inaugurated 45 water and environmental sanitation projects in several districts of the province, at a total cost of 578 million riyals.
The projects include the rehabilitation of water projects in the districts of Al-Selw, Haifan, Maqbna, Al-Taiziyah, Shara’ab Al-Rawna and Mocha, and the operation of a special abandoned artesian well to provide water for the displaced.
Al-Shurmani and Bajash laid the foundation stone for seven rural water projects, at a cost of $404,000 dollar, which benefit 42,055 people distributed among the districts of Shara’ab Al-Runah, Dimnat Khadir, Maqbna, and Al-Taiziyah.
The Minister of Water and the Governor of Taiz also inaugurated eight water projects of the Local Corporation for Water and Sanitation, with a cost of $1,463,000 dollars. The projects that benefit 3,575 people include the extension of the main line of the sewage network in the areas of Al-Madoudh, Al-Ranj Factory, Wadi Ahmed and the Technical Institute, with a length of 2,175 meters.
The foundation stone was also laid for the rehabilitation of three water and sewage projects in the areas of Al-Houban, Al-Buraihi and Al-Qarf.
The Minister of Water affirmed that the opening and laying of the foundation stone for these projects comes in accordance with the directives of the Leader of the Revolution, Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr Al-Din Al-Houthi, and the President of the Supreme Political Council, in order to provide clean drinking water in rural and urban areas.
For his part, the Governor of Taiz expressed satisfaction with the opening and laying of the foundation stone for water projects in the province, in conjunction with the celebration of the Prophet’s birthday anniversary.
