Medical team performs complex surgery, takes out gunshot from girl’s spinal cord
A medical team at Al-Jamhouri Hospital Authority in Hajjah Governorate, headed by a consultant neurosurgeon and spine, Dr. Ali Ja’afar, was able to perform a complex surgery to extract a gunshot from a girl’s spinal cord.
“The surgical operation, which is considered one of the qualitative operations, was successful and the 15-year-old girl is recovering despite the seriousness of the injury,” Dr. Ibrahim Al-Ashwal, the head of the hospital told Yemen News Agency Saba on Friday.
Dr. Ja’afar pointed out that the surgery performed two days ago, in which a gunshot was taken out from the spinal cord (inside the nerve roots at the level of the fourth and fifth lumbar vertebrae).
