HR acting Minister meets Women’s Protection Coordinator at UN Population Fund
Acting Minister of Human Rights Ali al-Dailami on Sunday discussed with the Coordinator of the Women’s Protection at the United Nations Population Fund possible interventions regarding women’s issues and conditions in light of the aggression.
In the meeting, al-Dailami reviewed the reality of Yemeni women, their needs and their suffering in light of the aggression targeting the infrastructure and vital facilities in the country.
He stressed the need to convey clear messages to the international community about the suffering of Yemeni women and their needs for psychological rehabilitation, awareness, education, and protection requirements, pointing to attempts by many parties to present a false and distorted picture of the reality of women in the free provinces.
“Unfortunately, during the current situation, most files, including those related to women and their needs, have been politicized, which has created an obstacle for the ministry and its human rights role in this direction,” he said.
For her part, the Women’s Protection Coordinator stressed the keenness to contribute to the definition of the needs of the Yemeni women, according to direct studies that it will implement on the field under the supervision of the Ministry of Human Rights and organizations working in Yemen in this field.
She confirmed the coordination’s adoption of the indicators of the approach on the humanitarian response that it follows to measure the results of its interventions on the field, noting that the coordination will put the results of these surveys before donors at international conferences to provide the necessary funds for women’s protection programs according to the urgent needs.
