Transport Minister: UN-sponsored Truce, Not Making Difference for Citizens
The Minister of Transport, Abdulwahab Al-Durra, called on the United Nations allow for operation of commercial flights on daily basis through Sana’a International Airport so that patients, expatriates and students can travel with ease, pointing out that the citizens want to see the positive impact of the UN-sponsored truce in their daily life.
According to Saba news agency, Minister Al-Durra considered the extension of the humanitarian truce an opportunity to prove the seriousness to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people economically.
He also called for the conduct of all flights through Sana’a International Airport, the entry of container ships and goods to the port of Hodeidah, and the opening of roads in all governorates.
The Minister of Transport reiterated the readiness of Sana’a Airport to receive all commercial and civil flights around the clock, in accordance with the requirements and conditions in force at international airports, in addition to the readiness of Hodeidah Port to receive all commercial ships.
The truce has been renewed for an additional two months through 2 October, UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, announced on Tuesday.
The extension includes a commitment by the Saudi-led aggression and the Salvation Government to intensify negotiations to reach an expanded agreement as soon as possible.
