President Al-Mashat to UN Envoy: Must Work in the Right Direction

President of the Supreme Political Council, Mahdi Al-Mashat, met in Sana’a, on Tuesday with the UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg and his accompanying team.

In the meeting, President Al-Mashat stressed the need for the UN envoy and his team to work in the right direction for the success of the agreed efforts in accordance with the armistice that included the opening of Sana’a International Airport and Hodeida ports, lifting the siege and putting pressure on the aggression countries to fulfill their humanitarian obligations.

President Al-Mashat pointed out that thousands of patients are waiting for the moment when Sana’a airport is opened so that they can travel for treatment.

“The initiative of the Republic of Yemen confirmed our desire for peace, contrary to the allegations of the aggression coalition, which was claiming that we reject it,” he said.

He added, “If the aggression countries, led by America, want peace with the continuation of the siege, this is what we will not accept as it is a form of surrender, and an insult that we will not accept and our people will not accept.”

Sadiq Amin Abu Ras indicated that the visit of the UN envoy comes after the poor play that Riyadh witnessed, in which there was no kind of respect for the Yemeni people and their independent decisions.

He stressed that the truce is a good step, even if nothing has been implemented, expressing hope that the truce will be a basis for what lies behind it.

Bin Habtoor pointed out that the excuse that Saudi Arabia, the UAE and some Security Council bodies were claiming for the alleged legitimacy has ended, and there are only groups cloned by some political forces.
