FM: Whoever besieges, kills Yemeni people will pay heavy price

Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf on Tuesday said that “whoever is besieging the Yemeni people and killing civilians in several areas of Yemen will pay heavy price in his own home.”

In a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), Foreign Minister affirmed that the Republic of Yemen has been since March 26, 2015 and is still being subjected to the most heinous aggression targeting humans and stones, and all the economic and service capabilities of the Yemeni people, even cemeteries.

The foreign minister explained that the statement of US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, in which he indicated that “the attacks of the Yemeni Defense Forces in the depths of Saudi Arabia targeted civilian places, including homes and mosques,” is not true.

Sharaf also stressed that “the Sanaa Defense Forces do not target civilians or any facilities of a civilian nature, and their objectives, according to the rules of engagement during periods of war, are military, vital and of an economic nature linked to mobilizing and financing the military capabilities of aggression countries such as air bases, and the aggression countries know this well.”

He indicated that the US minister’s statement is expected because it serves the interests between the White House and the Saudi Royal Court, and was launched at this particular time with the aim of courting Riyadh to encourage it to increase oil production to compensate for the global shortage caused by the Russian-Ukrainian war and Western sanctions against the Russian Federation.

“This biased position of the US administration encourages the continuation of Saudi aggression against Yemen, is inconsistent with the efforts and endeavors made by several international and regional parties to end the military aggression against Yemen and lift the siege in preparation for reaching a sustainable, peaceful political settlement,” Sharaf added.
